Oof. The last few weeks (well, really, months) have been a little rough. Work has been high stress and high tension, and I’ve been filling all my free time. So, I’m a squirrel girl that is really feeling this billboard.
I’m feeling like a speedbump right about now…
But, this is a new week, and I’m sure this week will be less speedbumpy!

I don’t know that we’re squirreling around to that degree, but it’s Sunday and the house is (mostly) clean, so we’re lounging, eating get-together leftovers and admiring our adorable kitties. Mostly, trying to drink in all the moments of the weekend before it’s back to work in the morning. Especially since we lost a precious weekend hour this morning. While I like falling back in Autumn, can we just do away with this Daylight Savings thing already?
*sigh*

So, much like the rest of the United States, we in Minnesota Minne-SNOW-ta are getting a fair amount of snow. I don’t feel like it’s any worse than usual here, but to hear folks talk, the apocalypse is nigh.
I’ve seen some impressive snow buildings and sculptures while out and about this winter. It’s been years since I’ve done any snowman or snowfort or snow-anything building. However, seeing the cool things people are building, or seeing them out playing in the snow makes it tempting! I’m even more tempted after stumbling upon a blog with some photographs of their impressive snow sculpting. Of course, I have to share the squirrel!

It was just Valentine’s Day. I have no problem with the holiday, and like to celebrate and dress up and all that just because I like having a reason to get dressed up and celebrate and all that. The thing is that when you’ve been with someone for *gulp* fifteen years, sometimes the dressing up and celebrating happens randomly, and the holidays and things fall by the wayside. So, this year, V-Day was low key.
Yet, just like these two cuddly squirrels, we still love each other, even on sappy holidays that are kind of made to sell cards and gifts and food at restaurants.
And, if you are reading this, I love you, too. Because even though I mostly am trying to get dedicated to my blog more and more for myself, knowing that even one person is reading this makes it more worth it. xoxox

EEK! I am barely getting this guy up before the day is done. I meant to do it first thing this morning, as we were heading out skiing. Alas, in getting things ready, we were most of the way to the ski hill before I remembered my to do list. It’s been a while since we’ve been skiing, and silly me thought that today would be the day I would learn to snowboard.
That didn’t go as I had hoped. I’m not giving up, but I learned what I need to do for next time: Try using a board with the bindings set for goofy stance, bring my wristguards, and hire an instructor. I got in a couple of runs with my skiboards, so I didn’t feel like a total loser. In fact, there was a moment when I did resemble this guy!

It was still a nice day, and I barely had to see any sportsball.
A couple of friends/coworkers are on a super rad assignment right now, in which they get to travel the East coast, have adventures, make videos, and all sorts of cool stuff. I would be lying if I said I weren’t a skosh jealous. If there is something I love more than traveling, it’s traveling on someone else’s dime!
Right now, they are in one of my favorite cities in the world, NYC. My dear friend Poptart shared a photo of this great mural in Brooklyn. I think I will need to make a trip to NYC again, if only to see it in person!!!

P.S. I looked into the artist of the mural, and it’s a well know street artist from Ghent, Belgium who goes by ROA. Coincidentally, Ghent is where my family is from. I don’t know how it would work, but I want to meet him!

How is it that New Year’s Eve is practically here? I think I missed a month or two in this year. That’s the only possible explanation. These squirrels are partying it up in celebration of another year coming, as I will be doing in two days’ time. I still haven’t come up with what my ensemble will be. According to some magazine a coworker left in the lunchroom, we’re all supposed to look like we came out of the 1970s. It’s all the rage. I don’t know about that.
So, have a wonderful New Year! Celebrate safely, either having someone sober drive you home or staying put while you put away the champagne, or prosecco, or other sparkling beverage. As always, I resolve to be more fabulous in the coming year. What do you resolve? Please do share!
